Jammu | Oct 22
To awake the present dispensation from its deep slumbers and to agitate against the exorbitant cost of regularization of land imposed by the coalition government for transfer the ownership rights under Roshni Scheme in the areas of Jammu city particularly in Jammu West Assembly Constituency, the J&K National Conference unit of District Jammu Urban led by Chander Mohan Sharma District President held a protest today. The Protest Rally was organized by S. Sucha Singh, Block President YNC Jammu West.
The caravan of National Conference activist riding on vehicles holding party flags, chanting slogans against the coalition government passed through Bhagwati Nagar, Canal Road, Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Rehari, Gurha Bakshi Nagar, Qasim Nagar and other bazaars, chowks, Mohallas of Jammu West Constituency to demonstrate their anger and concern over the Roshni Act. Local people also joined the National Conference activists and burnt the notices served upon them by the Government.
Addressing the protest rally at various chowks, Chander Mohan Sharma lambasted the coalition regime who have imposed exorbitant rate for vesting the ownership rights of land in Jammu city and particularly in colonies where the majority of people belong to poor and down trodden families. He said the way the coalition government brought legislation has marred the whole scheme. He said the Act was named as Roshni Act (Roshni means light), because the revenue collected from the occupants of land would be spent in the Power sector, but it is unfortunate that the present regime instead of giving Roshni to the poor people is burning them .
He said government's claim of comparing Roshni Act with the Land to Tiller is "an insult to the land reforms of late Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah"
He impressed upon the State Government to do justice with the people and re-consider and revise the rates fixed by them for Jammu City as people are unable to bear the burden. NC District President said that the Roshni Act should be taken in its right spirit which is to Roshan one's life and not to burn one's life.
He appealed the people to join together and strengthen the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah & Sheikh Nazir Ahmed by making National Conference victorious in the forth coming elections.
Among others who were present on the occasion included S/Shri Rachpal Singh, Ashwani Charak, Joginder Manhas, Hila Beig, Ashanand, Mohd Shabir Sambyal, Randhir Singh Slathia, Ravi Dogra, Rohit Kerni, Jameel Shah, Salim Choudhary, Shakti Pandoh, Anil Raina, Vishav Sharma, Mohan Lal, Rakesh Kumar Pinka, Raj Kumar, Mohinder, Master Anarnath, Susheel Gupta, Tilak Raj, Rakesh Sharma, Vicky Kumar, Babu Ram, Kewal Krishan, Suraj Parkash, Kailash Sharma, Bittu, Santosh Kumar, Susheel Gupta and others.
