| Lease holders seek concession as per Apex court directions | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 22 Stating the Roshni Act as dark act, the newly constituted Forum of Lease Holders and Occupants of Nazool and Government Land said that the government has applied the same scale for both allottees (lease holders) of the Nazool and other government land and unauthorized occupants with marginal concession only. Addressing the media persons, Inderjeet Khajuria, convenor of the forum said that those who have paid premium fixed at that time at the lands allotted/leased out to them between 40 to 80 years ago are being served with notices to pay huge sums amounting crores of rupees, with the rates fixed at the present market value. He said that those who had encroached upon the government lands have been charged at the rate of Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000 per kanal for regularizing their possession. Against this the authorized allottees/lease holders were charged at the rate of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore per kanal, depending upon the location of the lands and superstructures raised over these by them. The forum pointed out that the rates being demanded from them is many times higher than the rate upheld by the Supreme Court in case of Amrit Malhotra in respect of 25 kanals of land allotted to him by Nazool authorities. In this case SC had fixed the price at the rate of Rs 52,000 per kanal. The leaders of the forum are demanding from the authorized allottees/lease holders the government should fix the rates charged in the case of 13 colonies regularized by the JDA and J&K Housing Board or should charge the rates fixed by Apex Court in a recent case. |
