| LeT militant apprehended in Handwara | | Arms, ammunition beside official seals of govt officials recovered | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 22 Jammu and Kashmir Police has claimed to have arrested a Pakistan trained LeT Militant from Handwara and recovered some arms, ammunition and official seals from his possession. According to Superintendent of Police Handwara Dr. Haseeb Mughal acting on specific information regarding the movement of militants a special Naka was established near Petrol Pump Chogal by police Handwara. During the vehicle checking a motorcyclist on a Pulsar Motor cycle without Registration number was called for checking. However, he tried to escape from the check point on which the naka party chased the motorcyclist and apprehended him, he added. Identifying the apprehended person as Abdul Majeed Dar alias Bhambar Khan S/o Ghulam Mohiudin Dar of Nagri Palpora Kupwara, Dr Mughal told News Agency of Kashmir that the arrested person was a released- Pakistan Trained militant of HM outfit. He stated that during the personal search of arrested person one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol magazine, seven rounds of Pistol ammunition were recovered from him while two Chinese grenades were recovered from his motorcycle. He said that during the questioning, subject disclosed that this arms and ammunition has been provided to him by LeT commander alias Saifullah of Pakistan who is presently operating in the Rajwar area. The arrested person also disclosed that he is actively helping the cadres in transportation of arms and ammunition and collection of information regarding the movements of security forces and police of the area, he added. SP Handwara further stated that during the sustained questioning, the accused disclosed about other arms and ammunition kept in Kupwara on which recoveries were made from the house of one Ghulam Hassan Malik S/o Abdul Salam Malik R/o Nagri Malpora. The recoveries include three UBGL grenades, 30 rounds of AK ammunition, 27 rounds of Kala Kope and four Seals including that of Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Headmaster boys High School Kupwara and two seals of Proprietor M/s Wani Brothers General Bus Stand Kupwara, he added. SP Handwara further said that the arrested person further revealed that these seals were being used for documentation and making the illegal Identity Cards for LeT Cadres. He said that further questioning of the arrested person is going on to ascertain his links with other local and foreign militants. He disclosed that a case FIR No. 244/07, U/S 7/25 Arms Act has been registered in Police Station Handwara in this regard. |
