| Civil defence camp inaugurated | | | Early Times Reporter Kathua | Oct 22 A ten day Civil Defence Camp was inaugurated at Government Degree College for women, Kathua here today. Principal Government Degree College for Women, Kathua who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the camp. Ex. MLA and chief warden Civil defence, Kathua, Dhian Chand and Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Thakur Nirmal Singh were also present on the occasion. The Chief Guest thanked the civil defence authorities for organizing the civil defence training Camp in the college. He urged the students to take benefit of the camp by taking active part in it. Earlier, Prof. Twinkle Suri welcomed the guests and said that propose of civil defence is mainly to safe guard the masses from natural calamities and help in disaster management. Dhian Chand said that in these training camp 140 students will be imparted training in the civil defense techniques by the experts from the Auxiliary police. He said that without disturbing the academic studies, the students will be imparted training in the afternoon session of the college. After successful completion of training the participants will be awarded with certificates. He said that civil defence is the need of the hour. During natural calamities, accidents and other unnatural incidents civil defence volunteers can help a lot in saving the lives of the people. Prof. Pawan Vivek presented the vote of thanks. Among others Ashok Malhotra, Kapil Dev Sharma college staff and large number of students were present. |
