| Dilawar for capacity building in tourism sector | | CII holds training programme for tourism operators | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 22 Minister for Tourism Mohammad Dilawar Mir today urged for a vigorous and comprehensive orientation programme for capacity building in tourism sector to provide better and satisfactory service and facilities to the tourists. He said tourist satisfaction was imperative to attract more tourists and promotion of tourism. Better tourist service coupled with world class tourist infrastructure are the basic necessities for promoting tourism sector, the Minister said while delivering inaugural address at the 3-day “Training Programme for tourist operators of J&K” organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) J&K chapter in collaboration of J&K Tourism Department at Tourist Reception Centre ere today. The Minister enjoined upon the service provider in tourism industry to focus on professionalized services in their establishments to withstand competition in the tourism sector. He said world has shrunk into a global village, where only excellence and consumer satisfaction could help for existence. For this purpose, Dilawar urged for conducting regular orientation courses for tourism operator and personnel on the establishment of hotels, house boats etc. He said tour operators and service provides must have latest skills and behavior to satisfy a tourist adding that a satisfied tourist could be a brand ambassador of state’s tourism on his return to home. The Minister also called for making deployment of qualified and professional staff in hotels and house boats to cater the needs of tourists. The Minister also appreciated CII for venturing in tourism promotion efforts in the state hoping that the training programme would prove fruitful for promoting tourism in the J&K state. Director Tourism, Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Shah, Members of CII Iqbal Tramboo, Col. R. S. Parmar, Joint director, Tourism Sarmad Hafeez, Ex-Director General, Tourism Mohammad Ashraf, a large number of tourist operators, hoteliers and house boat owners prominent industrialists, Mohammad Shafi Tramboo and Kamal Koul were present on the occasion. During the course training in professional skills in tourism management will be imparted to tourist guides, taxi drivers, restaurant waiters, ponney wallas, shikara wallas etc. especially in personal hygiene, capacity building, basic etiquettes, methods of food service, cooking good communication etc. |
