| SC gives one week time to JK for counter affidavit | | | New Delhi | Oct 22 A division bench of the Supreme Court comprising of JJ Ashok Bhan and DK Jain today granted one week’s time to Jammu and Kashmir state to file counter affidavit on the notice which was issued to the relief commissioner, J&K regarding the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment dated 12-07-2006 to provide relief to the Jammu migrants mostly camping at Talwara, Reasi. K.K Venugopal, senior advocate and Prof. Bhim Singh appeared for the migrants. Bhim Singh informed the Supreme Court that Talwara Migrants have been sitting on dharna for the past one month against the police atrocities against them and the panthers party leaders on August 7, 2007 while they were marching towards Delhi. He also submitted that state government has been playing hide and seek with the Supreme Court instead of implementing the Supreme Court order. The Supreme Court allowed Prof Bhim Singh to file rejoinder within one week after the state files its counter. Earlier, Justice Ashok Bhan inquired form the state counsel whether the state government was interested to implement the Supreme Court. |
