| SVO produces challan against former revenue official | | Charged with possessing disproportionate assets to known source of income | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 23 State Vigilance Organisation has produced challan against Parshotam Singh ex-Girdawar Settlement Udhampur and his wife Usha Rani for acquiring assets, by indulging in corrupt practices disproportionate to known sources of income, worth over Rs. 63 lakh, in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu. On receipt of information about the acquisition of property by indulging in corrupt practices and disproportionate to his known sources of income by Singh, a verification was conducted during which the allegations were prima facie established, a statement by SVO said. Case FIR No.18/2005 P/S VOJ was registered and investigation taken up, it added. During the course of investigation it was revealed that Singh by indulging in corrupt practices had raised assets in the shape of a double storey palatial residential house at Tikri with one shop, a double sotrey building at Chopra shop Rehmbal on National Highway 1A with five shops, a petrol pump under the name and style “Jamwal Filling Station” at Chopra Shop Rehmbal on NHW 1A, International Stone Crusher at Birwan Nallah, Udhampur, Himalayan Stone Crusher at Charale Muttal, Udhampur. In the course of investigation it was established that the accused official has acquired assets worth Rs.1,57,27,244/- between the period 01.04.1998 to 30.11.2005. The property of the accused revenue official was found to be disproportionate by an amount of Rs.65,96,515/- during investigation. The SVO under the provisions of amended Prevention of Corruption Act attached his tainted property namely International Stone Crusher and 10 kanals of land for which the competent authority has appointed an Administrator for the stone Crusher. The next date of hearing has been fixed on November 23. |
