| CM orders massive relief effort for Wadwan fire victims | | Senior officers with medicines, tents arrive at site to supervise relief measures | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 23 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has ordered massive relief effort to be taken up and asked senior officers to rush to Margi village in Wadwan Kishtwar district where in a tragic fire incident 160 residential houses and 100 cowsheds have been destroyed. The fire has also resulted in burn injuries to about 100 persons. On the Chief Minister's instructions, the State administration requisitioned two MI-17 helicopters from Air Force at Jammu in which, besides senior officers, 100 tents, 240 blankets, emergency medicines, 25 sleeping bags and teams of doctors and par-medical staff were flown to the fire ravaged village. District Development Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar have also rushed to the spot to supervise relief measures. The Chief Minister has asked his ministerial colleagues Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Prem Sagar Aziz to fly to the village and ensure adequate relief to the fire sufferers. They will leave for Wadwan early morning tomorrow. The ministers will be accompanied by a team of officers including Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioner and Director Health Services besides a team of doctors and para-medical staff. The State Police is also dispatching 400 tents for the fire victims. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic fire incident and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies with the victims. He has directed the health authorities for providing best possible medicare to the injured and wished them speedy recovery. |
