Masoodi lists achievements of Cultural Academy

In order to promote composite culture of J&K State, the State Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has published numerous titles in 10 languages highlighting different facets of cultural legacy. These books considered as master pieces are acknowledged as source material for understanding composite culture of the state.
This was stated by the Secretary of Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Masoodi at a press conference held here today in connection with year long celebration of Golden Jubilee of the Academy from October 25, 2007.
Elaborating the achievements registerred by the Academy, the Secretary said that Academy published a chain of journals in various languages under the title “Sheeraza” and anthology “Hamara Adab”. Besides normal issues special issues on various aspects of J&K history, folklore, personalities, music, folk traditions etc. are being compiled and published regularly. He s aid dictionaries have been complied and published in most of these languages. Encyclopedias have been published, Cash financial assistance is sanctioned in favour of authors to publish the ir books, he added and said that awards are conferred for excellence in literature, mushairas. He said all state writers camps, play script competitions, meet the legends, installation of memorials, All India Urdu Mushairas etc are being regularly organized by the academy.
The Secretary said that academy has introduced many schemes with a view to preserve, encourage and highlight folk and performing arts of the state which include theatre festivals, revivals of ancient theater in Kashmir, theatre and play write workshops, national theater festivals, academy’s own play productions, All India Classical Music Concerts, All India Dance recitals, Folk festivals, music programmes, interstate and cultural exchange programme, children activities, international visits of cultural troupes, production of audio/VCDs.
He said so many panels and committees have been framed to organize various programmes in connection with year-long Golden Jubilee celebration of the academy. He said cultural academy is being strengthening its activities at district level by opening its offices in all district headquarters.
