| Adopt positive approach for resolving issues, Babu Singh to trade unions | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar| Oct 23 Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports Mr. Babu Singh has urged upon the trade unions in Jammu and Kashmir to work unitedly for the betterment of labour and employees as per the ethics laid down. The problems of labour and employees are common and could only be solved when these are projected in right way. For achieving the goals peaceful means should be adopted, he said adding confrontationist ways like agitation should be avoided at all costs. He said that all unions should come to a single platform and project their issues before the authorities for amicable settlement. The Minister was addressing a one-day convention of employees organized by J & K National Trade Union Front here today. Babu Singh acknowledged the burning demands of employees and assured that all genuine demands pertaining to the welfare of employees would be taken up with the appropriate authorities for early settlement. He shared the concern of Anganwari Workers and Helpers and other categories who are facing low wages problems and demanding enhancement of it for quite some time. He appealed the employees to work with zeal and dedication and contribute their mite for the development of the State. He said that State has seen the worse period of turmoil and this is the time to regain and restore the infrastructure. On the issue of growing unemployment in the State, Mr. Singh said that no Government could provide hundred percent government jobs. He suggested the unemployed youth to take up self-employment ventures for which the government has launched various schemes and offering attractive incentives. Earlier the State President of J&K National Trade Union Front Mr. Mohammad Gafoor Dar welcomed the Minister and conveyed his gratitude for gracing the occasion. He highlighted the burning demands of employees like interim relief, amendment in recruitment rules of various departments, two and half days extra pay for such departments who work in extra hours, regularization of daily wagers, restoration of medi-claim policy, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, enhancement of wages of Anganwari Workers and Helpers etc. Mr. Dar said that these demands have already been put before the government on number of occasions and are under active consideration. He hoped that the Government would resolve all genuine demands amicably. |
