| Fresh summons for two cops | | Anara’s 2 Cr damage suit | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 23 Principal District Judge Jammu JR Kotwal today in a suit for recovery of Rs 2 crore filed by former Miss-Jammu Anara Gupta for illegal confinement for a period of 11 days, issued fresh summons against Bansi Lal and Darbari Lal constables whereas on behalf of other respondents advocates filed their vakaltnamas. The court also fixed December 12 for hearing of the case. The suit was filed by Anara for recovery of damages caused to her by the respondents named in the petition because of her arrest and keeping her in illegal confinement for a period of 11 days besides subjecting her to severe physical as well as mental torture. The petition also said that she was detained in a false and frivolous case thus damaging her reputation, socially among friends, relatives and her colleagues in the profession and general public at large by misusing and abusing the police power. Worthwhile here to mention that police station women cell registered a case under FIR NO 25/2004 U/Ss 292/293/7 Cinematography Act, 4 PITA, 6/7 IT Act and after completion of the investigation presented final report in the Court of CJM. The then CJM after considering the facts directed DGP J&K for further investigation of the Case. Brothers of Anara Gupta namely Satyanibeshi, Kumar Sambhav and Kumar Sangam also filed damages suit to the tune of Rs 5 lakh each. |
