| Rajnath predicts fall of Congress in Centre and JK | | Joint operations required for demolishing terrorists’ camps’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 23 The BJP today predicted fall of the Congress led Government in Jammu and Kashmir and the UPA Government in the centre. The BJP supremo, Rajnath Singh, told mediamen on his day’s visit to Jammu on Tuesday, “Both the Congress led Governments in the centre and in Jammu and Kashmir are on ventilator. The growing inner conflicts are bound to result in the collapse of these two Governments.” He said that the centre should insist on carrying out joint military operations under Joint mechanism plan mooted by Islamabad for demolishing all terrorist camps existing on the soil of Pakistan. He said Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh was a weak leader whose writ in the UPA Government fails to run. He claimed that Dr Manmohan Singh had confessed that he was not heard in the Government. The BJP Chief said it was now for Dr Manmohan Singh to decide whether to quit or to cling to the prime Minister’s chair unmindful of others running the Government. He said that even the leftists were not honest in discussing and debating the Government’s nuclear deal with America. Rajnath Singh said that “On one hand the leftists raised a row over the nuclear deal on the other it did not agree to our suggestion of persuading the Government for a full discussion on the deal in the parliament.” He said that the BJP is in favour of referring the nuclear deal issue to a parliamentary committee whose report should be binding on the Government. The BJP Chief said that since the rift between the congress and the leftists was on the rise it was better for the congress to resign and pave way for fresh elections. He reiterated the party’s demand for the repeal of Article 370,which gives Jammu and Kashmir a special status in the constitution of India, saying that the Article was a stumbling block in the complete integration of the state with the rest of the country. He ridiculed those demanding either self-rule or greater autonomy. He said that it was ludicrous to demand self-rule when the state had an elected Government adding that Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed a special status and received special treatment as far as devolution of central funds was concerned and hence the demand for greater autonomy sounded funny. He snubbed the PDP for raising the demilitarization demand adding that in the context of the security scenario that existed in the state there should be no reduction in troops. He said the PDP leadership to respect the opinion of the Army commanders who have opposed the demand for demilitarization. |
