| Pak delegation’s visit being redrawn | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 25 The proposed visit of a 14-member trade delegation from Pakistan and occupied Kashmir to Jammu and Kashmir from November 6 to November 9 was being rescheduled according to official sources. President of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ram Sahai said here today that since the Pak trade delegation was to meet trader and industry leaders in Jammu on November 8 and 9. “We have conveyed to the concerned agencies that the dates were not suitable for us as we all will be busy in Diwali celebrations.” Confirming that the visit of the trade delegation from across the border to Jammu and Kashmir was being rescheduled he said that Islamabad has not allowed a trade delegation from Pakistan to visit Jammu and Kashmir, instead it has decided to send a 14-member delegation of leaders of trade and commerce from Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, both in occupied Kashmir, to Jammu and Kashmir for a detailed meetings with their counterparts in Jammu and Srinagar. Ram Sahai said that the foreign office in Pakistan will meet the leaders of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Mirpur and Muzaffarabad for redrawing the schedule for the trade delegation’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir.He said that Islamabad has favoured the chamber leaders from Occupied Kashmir to visit Jammu and Kashmir which could be followed by a visit of trade delegation from Pakistan. The Chamber leaders said that “We want Suchetgarh-Sialkot route, in Jammu,to be reopened for trade which could be beneficial for the traders in the Jammu region.” They said, “Even if Srinagar Muzaffarabad road, which was thrown open for traffic in April 2005, was opened for trade it will also prove beneficial for those engaged in production of fruit, fresh and dry spices, handicrafts and other items.” |
