| Educational tour underway | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 25 ‘Nari Shakti Shanti Path Par’ a motivational and educational tour for women and girls of this region conducted by ‘Dah Division’ as a part of operation Sadbhavana. The tour which started on 17 October 2007 from Nowshera is to further add on to the series of educational, motivational welfare and awareness programme undertaken by Indian Army for locals of interior areas. The tour is being conducted by 69 Field Regiment, 39 Mountain Artillery Brigade under the aegis of ‘DAH DIVISION’. The team consisted of 34 women/girls from Rajouri, Poonch, Naushera and Kalakote. The contingent was led by Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Chandran Officer Incharge Officers tour and two lady officers of Indian Army along with supporting staff. The tour was flagged off from Naushera by President Army Wives Welfare Association 39 Mountain Division. The function was graced by Major General Rajinder Singh, VSM, GOC 39 Mountain Division. The tour had their first halt at Delhi on 18 October 2007, where they visited Rashtrapati Bhawan, Jama Masijid, India Gate, Red Fort and a joy ride in Metro. During their interaction with The President, Her Excellency urged the group of women and girls to spread the message of importance of education of girl child when they return home. She also emphasized that ladies on their part should continue with their effort of helping Army in its fight against terrorism as they have been doing over the years. The tour taking good memories of Delhi then started off for their next destination to Ajmer Sharif. The delegation visited the holy shrine on 21 October 2007. |
