| PDP extends VIP status to ousted officer, NC demands inquiry. | | ‘Margi villagers cheated, Asgar makes merry’ | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 25 National Conference has condemned the display of extravaganza at the cost of state exchequer by Peoples Democratic Party leaders and ministers in the state cabinet taking advantage of human tragedy suffered by people of Margi village in Wardwan Tehsil of district Kishtwar. A National Conference spokesman in a statement issued here demanded an inquiry in the change of route by a helicopter carrying PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Qarra to Margi Village in Wardwan tehsil to Kishtwar to lift forcibly retired director of Rural development Asghar Ali and then drop him back at Kishtwar and fly back to Srinagar. The NC spokesman said that a helicopter carrying PDP chief and Finance Minister took off from Srinagar to assess the situation at Margi Village in Wardwan tehsil, where 160 houses were gutted and about 100 people suffered injuries due to fire. But the helicopter changed route from Srinagar to Margi and instead landed at Kishtwar, took along Asgar Ali and then landed at Margi Village, he said adding the PDP leader announced ration to the affected families from state government while trying to encash on the sentiments of the people in the hour of grief. Spokesman said that PDP has mastered the art of cashing on the human tragedies and is in the habit of making hue and cry only while doing nothing on ground for the people suffering due to various tragedies. The spokesman further alleged that the helicopter again took off for Kishtwar and after dropping Asgar Ali at Kishtwar returned to Srinagar . He said that a person who was forcibly retired from the government service for alleged acts of ommission and commission by a cabinet decision, of which Tariq Karra was also a part and parcel, was given a VIP treatment by the same people at the cost of state exchequer adding a journey which could have taken just 20 minutes from Srinagar to affected village turned into a two and half hours journey costing the state exchequer heavily. The National Conference spokesman said that on one hand chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is talking about transparency, good governance and people friendly policies, on the other hand his cabinet colleagues and the junior partners in coalition are making merry at the cost of state exchequer. He said that Azad's slogans have turned out to be a big joke on the people of state who are suffering untold miseries for past over 17 years of turmoil. The condition of health sector, developmental scenario, employment sector, industries and power have taken a nose dive during the present regime and people have become a football at the hands of coalition partners, he said adding if the chief minister wants his slogans to be turned into a reality, he should immediately take corrective measures and order an inquiry into the whole episode. |
