Divya Pratap’s brilliant knock guides MAM to easy win

A brilliant knock by Divya Pratap Singh, who made 100-ball 160 runs, today steered Government MAM College to a big 119 runs victory over Degree College Poonch on way to the quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at University grounds, here.
Divya’s fastest century of the tournament was studded with 10 towering sixes and 16 hits to the boundary. With today’s magnificent innings of 160, Diya has not only become the highest scorer of the tournament but also powered MAM to set highest total of the competition.
Another highlight of the today’s game was disciplined bowling from both sides. While Poonch College gave away 14 extras in 40 overs, the MAM bowlers had just seven extras in their bowling analysis.
Earlier, MAM College won the toss and decided to bat. They set an unbeatable target of 315 runs for nine in 40 overs, which, in reply Degree College Poonch could not attain and bowled out for 196 runs in 38.3 overs.
Besides Divya Pratap’s 160 runs knock, Aditya Pratap also played sensible innings of 57 runs including seven boundaries. Ankit and Navdeep were other two main scorers with 23 and 19 runs respectively. From Poonch College, Zahid and Naveed took three wickets each while Mumtaz bagged two.
Chasing a daunting task, Poonch College put in best of their efforts but could not attain their goal and the whole side bowled out for 196 runs in 38.3 overs. Ashaq Hussain remained the top scorer with 54 runs coming off 46 balls including one six and nine fours.Waqar Ahmed also played well and contributed 34 runs.
Mukesh was most successful bowler from MAM College with four for 33 in eight overs while Varun and Vikrant Singh shared three and two wickets respectively.
Divya Partap Singh was obvious choice for the man of the match award, which was presented to him by Director Continuing Education, University of Jammu, Prof Poonam Dhaman.
Today’s match was officiated by Vijay Dogra and Ranjay Sharma. Mohit Jamwal was scorer. Next match: MAM College (Evening) to take on Degree College Kathua tomorrow.
