| Scholarship for children of deceased police personnel | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 25 Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda today sanctioned Rs 7.72 lakh as scholarship out of Police Education Fund in favour of school going children of deceased police personnel for the current academic year. Giving details, the Director General of Police said that Rs 6.38 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of 127 students of police personnel who laid down their lives while fighting militancy in the state. Similarly, Rs 0.42 lakh were released to 19 wards of deceased police personnel who died due to natural death and Rs 0.92 lakh as meritorious scholarship were sanctioned in favour of 110 students from the January this year. The Director General of Police lauded the valour exhibited by the officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police for maintaining the integrity and sovereignty of the state and restoration of peace. He said the police organization is more a family than just a government department where each one cares for every one. The Police Organization will make all possible efforts for ensuring quality education to the wards of police personnel, he said. Khoda said our objective is to generate resources for implementing various welfare schemes for police personnel and their families, besides providing free medical cover, interest free loans, premium for group insurance schemes and special rewards to the brilliant wards of the police personnel besides supporting orphan and widows of the police personnel who have made supreme sacrifices for the country. He said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police makes endeavors to provide succour to the families of the deceased jawans and officers adding that Police Wives Welfare Association is also supporting, supplementing the efforts of the department besides arranging resources for the welfare of police pariwars especially whose bread earns have lost their lives while serving the nation. |
