| Two day workshop held at MAM college | | | Early Times reporter Jammu | Oct 26 Two day workshop on the topic Post Disaster Relief and Health Care Management began today at MAM College. The workshop has been organized by the NSS Unit of Govt. MAM College in collaboration with IMPA. Prinipal of the MAM College, Prof. RL Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. The aim of the workshop is to enlighten the students about the horrors of disasters like Earthquake and taught them the means to prevent causalities. Prof. GM Bhat from the Department of Geology Jammu University explained the cause of earthquakes. He disclosed that The earth is divided into three main layers - a hard outer crust, a soft middle layer and a center core. The outer crust is broken into massive, irregular pieces called "plates." These plates move very slowly, driven by energy forces deep within the earth. Earthquakes occur when these moving plates grind and scrape against each other. Dr. Rajneesh Ranjan also delivered the lecture on the standards operating procedure during a disaster. |
