| Army connects remote areas of village Kalal | | | Early Times Reporter Nowshera | Oct 28 In continuation of Army’s policy to win the hearts and minds of the local population and in order to provide better road communication facilities in remote areas, The MARATHA LIGHT INFANTRY undertook the project of construction of road Kalal as part of Border Area Development in village Kalal. The road was inaugurated on 22 Oct 2007 by Brigadier RR Nimbhorkar, SM, VSM, Commander Nowshera Infantry Brigade. He dedicated the road to Colonel K J Singh, SC, SM who laid down his life fighting the terrorists in this area. Brigadier Nimbhorkar at an impressive function addressed a large gathering attended by Government officials, civilians, Ex-servicemen and children. He assured that the Army would always continue to work for the betterment of the population of the area and also lauded the role of the local population in maintaining peace and tranquility in the area. A cultural programme was also organised by the children of local school of the area. The villagers thanked the Army for its whole hearted support for the development of the area. A Medical Camp was also organised on this occasion where Army doctors attended to the civilians and provided them with free medicines.In all about 300 patients attended. |
