Residents today staged a demonstration at Jora Nagar here against PHE authorities in protest against failure of the department to provide adequate drinking water. According to one of the protestor, Kulbir Singh; Sports Minister had inaugurated a tube well keeping in view the scarcity of water in the said area and the authorities have only dug 25 meters and since then for the last three months no work has been done in this regard. He said that despite repeated requests to the concerned department, it has not taken any action till date. The agitating residents have threatened to intensify the stir in case their grievances are not met with immediately. Among those who participated in the protest included Rajinder Singh Chib, Kaka, Kamlesh and Rani devi. |
