| Police registers case against doctor for negligence | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Jammu | AugUST 20
Gandhi Nagar Police has registered a case of negligence against a doctor and paramedical staff of Gandhi Nagar government Hospital after they give overdose medicine to a seven year child who died this afternoon. Sources informed that Sushant S/O Praveen Kumar of Chatta was brought to Ghandi Nagar Hospital with the complain of gastroenteritis early this morning. Doctors on duty, according to family members admitted the child and keep him under observation for some time, and later a doctor who according to them was on duty prescribed injection for the boy and directs his paramedical staff on duty to give him an injection. It was learnt from family members of the child that an overdosed injection was given to him after which he fell unconscious. However the reason of unconsciousness was not immediately known. On knowing about the condition of the boy the parents and other relatives gathered inside the ward and start crying and the father of the child immediately rushed to Police station Gandhi Nagar and informed them about the incident, Who rushed to hospital and start investigation of the matter. The boy was referred to SMGS Hospital for specialized treatment but the doctors attending declared him brought dead. When contacted SHO Gandhi Nagar Gayan Chand Sharma, told this scribe that a complaint of negligence was received by one Praveen Kumar father of the child and police is investigating the case, as how the death of boy occurred. He said that a case of negligence was registered against Hospital staff including doctor on duty. Meanwhile, doctor and paramedical staff of the Hospital disappeared from the Hospital. When contacted Superintendent SMGS Dr Yashpal told this reporter that the respiratory system of the child had failed after he was examined by doctors and was immediately put on oxygen but he had collapsed before he could be given oxygen, he said. |
