Srinagar | Oct 28: Questioning the right of coalition government to continue, former minister and senior National Conference leader, Abdul Rahim Rather today said that inaction of chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad– amid severe criticism by some cabinet ministers - was adversely affecting the cause of general masses.
Addressing a public rally at Chadoora, in Budgam district, former finance minister said that repeated hue and cry by ruling Peoples Democratic Party over the failure of the state government was testimony of the functioning of coalition alliance.
It is unfortunate that PDP ministers holding all the important portfolios in the government due to their ego and vested interests were raising fingers at the functioning of the coalition of which they are part of. "To hide its own failures PDP is trying to blame its own alliance partner Congress and in the process has itself exposed before the public".
Commenting over the repeated criticism of Chief Minister by his own cabinet colleagues over his actions and inactions, Rather said that the silence of the Ghulam Nabi Azad was adding to chaos, which has its direct implications upon the general masses.
Due to the growing fissures within the coalition partners developmental works have come to standstill across the state, he alleged adding, government officials including senior bureaucrats were getting different dictates from different political parties within the government bringing entire system to jeopardy.
State administration has been paralyzed by the ministers, who often lock horns with each other over one issue or the other. "Chief Minister is under the moral obligation to overcome the differences within as his inaction was badly affecting the common masses of the state".
Rather was of the opinion that both Azad and Mufti are acting as extensions of Congress who have no support from their masters and neither from the common masses. The coalition is acting more in bureaucratic manner with no accountability and no sympathy for the cause of general masses.
Referring to the recent media reports, Rather said that PDP leaders are themselves giving contradictory statements regarding intervention of Congress high command regarding solving the differences among the coalition partners. "While the ousted H&UD Minister Qazi Mohammad Afzal says that Mufti sahib have written a letter to Sonia for sorting out the matter, Mehbooba Mufti refutes the same, while another senior leader of PDP Muzaffar Hussain Beig claims that a Centre's interlocutor is coming to sort out the problem, but none remains visible," he said adding that the state administration has totally collapsed with many districts remaining headless in the absence of a Senior Superintendent of Police for past over three months.
Senior NC leader and MLA Mehboob Baig criticizing the government for growing menace of unemployment. "The claims of Congress and PDP during the last assembly election have proved hollow as the state was still reeling under the crises of unemployment", he said.
He also draw the attention of the state government towards the approaching winter and said that far flung areas of the state were still without any ration supply and the officials in C&PD department were instead more interested in filling up their own pockets.
Former MLA Chadoora, Ali Muhammad Dar, while addressing the gathering came down heavily upon the state government for its failures and lack of accountability. He said that the area has been completely neglected and negligible development work has been executed in last four years.
