| Congress will attempt to delay elections: JKNPP | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 28 The leadership of Panthers Party, which is trying to gain foothold in BJP and Congress strongholds in the Jammu region, is of the firm opinion that the Congress will delay holding of the Assembly poll, due in October 2008. In support of this contention leader of Panthers Party in the Assembly, Harsh Dev Singh,said today "We do not foresee any possibility of an early election in the state."He said since the Congress led Governmenthad nothing to sell to peple it will not opt for earlypoll. He said that the PDP was uncomfortable in thecoalition and would snap ties anytime which may leaveno other alternative for Mr Azad but to go in for thepoll.He said Mr Azad in particular and the Congress ingeneral were tolerating the PDP's pranks simply toprevent preponement of the election. When asked whether the Azad led Government couldsurvive without the PDP support on the basis of thesupport it may receive from the National ConferenceHarsh Dev Singh said "it will be suicidal for theCongress if it sought even outside support from theNational Conference.""The Congress will did its graveif it banked on the NC support,"he added. In reply to another question the Panthers Partyleader said that the present political scenarioindicated that each major mainstream parties willcontest election on their own without forging anyalliance.In raply to another question Harsh Dev Singhsaid that the Panthers Party has no idea of forgingany alliance with the Kashmir centricorganisations,including National Conference and PDP.Hesaid that Congress may try to refurbish the image ofthe Government so that it had something to sell topeople in the next election. |
