| JMC constitutes special squad | | | VIKAS SHARMA Jammu | Oct 28 To check various confectionery items during the ongoing festival season, Jammu Municipal Corporation, JMC has constituted a special squad, which will have random check of the confectionery items, in the wards which come under the Jammu Municipal limits. As per the sources in the JMC, some shopkeepers are found cheating the customers by selling some items at exorbitant rates and even selling out rotten items to the customers on the festival occasion. To keep check and proper vigilance on the shopkeepers, JMC has constituted a tem which will be headed by a magistrate. The other members of the squad include a senior official from CA&PD department, one food inspector and one official from Weight and Measures department. The squad will work along with the other teams which are already working in the field. While taking to the ‘Early Times’ the commissioner of JMC Vinod Sharma said, “This step has been taken as the number of complaints were received in this regard against some shopkeepers. He said during the festival season, shopkeepers are often cheating people in the number of ways and such a need arises to have proper check on them. He said as around 8 food inspectors and the other staff of the JMC officials are vigorously monitoring the activities of these shopkeepers in all 71 wards which come under the JMC limits. He further said whosoever found indulged in such mal-practices will be booked under law. |
