| PDP’s draft committee reviews self-rule document | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 29 Following National Conference leadership’s contention that the PDP’s self-rule document was a replica of greater autonomy plan the PDP leadership has directed the draft committee, headed Muzaffar Hussain Baig,to review the document and make perfect. A senior PDP leader confirmed that the self-rule document was being reviewed and it may take some time to release it. General Secretary of the PDP Nizam-ud-Din Bhat said “since we plan to prepare a document for the future we have to ensure that it is perfect and there is no lacuna.” He said “our aim is to produce a document which will be acceptable to all, including India and Pakistan.” He made it clear that the self-rule idea was not going to be a replica of greater autonomy resolution of the National Conference. He states that the emphasis will be on the devolution of political and financial powers at the block level. Bhat said “we are not in a hurry. We want people to have a clear view of our vision on settling the Kashmir issue and hence each every aspect of the conflict was being taken care of.” Other PDP leaders said that since Pakistan President ,Gen. Parvez Musharraf, had mooted the idea of self-governance “we are trying to prepare a document which could be acceptable to Delhi and Islamabad. We do not stand on ego and we will not hesitate in accommodating some of the ideas that have been already covered in the greater autonomy resolution. Our aim is to restore peace to Jammu and Kashmir.” |
