| CM revisits Margi, oversees rehabilitation works | | | Early Times Reporter Margi | Oct 29 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited this ill-fated village, second time in a week, to inspect relief and rehabilitation measures initiated by the government following the devastating fire that left the remote hamlet into a heap of ashes last week. Accompanied by Minister for Education, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed, the Chief Minister flew in during early morning and interacted with the victim families. He enquired about the distribution of relief material among the affected population and measures being taken for the reconstruction of the gutted houses. The Chief Minister reiterated his earlier assurance of speedy reconstruction of damaged houses and arranging immediate temporary accommodation for the fire victims. The affected families are presently lodged in tents but in view of the fast approaching winter and reconstruction likely to take few months, the Chief Minister said that arrangements would be made to shift the affected families to some adjacent village for temporary accommodation for which the government would pay. Azad also assured the villagers that a special recruitment drive in police would be made in Margi to employ local youth. He said where there was no suitable boy available in a family a girl candidate would be provided the job. The villagers expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the government for them. |
