| Jora inaugurates computerized billing centre | | Asks industrialists, people, representatives to cooperate in containing power pilferage | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 29 Minister for Power Nawang Rigzin Jora today inaugurated a computerized electricity billing centre at I.G.C.I, Samba. Jora also reviewed the present power scenario at various rural and urban pockets of Jammu. The computerized billing centre, fourth to be commissioned, in district Samba has been set up at an estimate cost of Rs. 5.00 lakh at SIDCO Commercial, shopping complex Samba in a scheduled period. This centre also provides other facilities to the consumers like centralized monitoring of daily collection on line query and easy management automatic data transfer from all sub-Division to Divisions. In addition this centre will also act as consumers complaint centre. Jora extolled that the government has taken several innovative measures at all level to improve the socio-economic standards of the state especially those living in far-flung and remote areas. He also exhorted the concerned engineers to personally visit the areas and seek the help of the representatives of the village. Speaking on the occasion, Jora dwelt upon the yearly loss of Rs. 13.00 crore to the state's exchequer due to purchase of power from other states. He elaborated that to give thrust to power generation in the state, several mini and micro hydroelectricity projects are being developed in collaboration with private players in the field. He said due to personal intervention by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have agreed to give subsidy to the state for three year in power sector due to yearly loss. He informed that work on Sawalakot and Baghiliar Hydro-Electricity Project are in full swing and would be commissioned soon after which the state will face no shortage of power. Mr Jora informed that the main aim of establishing such centres is to provide timely error free energy bills to the consumers. He said that the consumers can get their bill through internet with proper information about each parameters and facilities for early detection and disposal of revenue errors. He also said that the consumers can now seek their electricity bills and get new information with full details of the number of energy units consumed, posting of bill payment viz domestic commercial and industrialist. He said that the computerized billing centre will improve over all work culture, efficiency and enhance revenue realization. Hailing the project as a boon for providing direct valuable information and data to the PDD planners and managers. Chief Engineer D. S. Powar informed that this would enable better understanding and clear picture of the department whereby direct access to the data and information of each feeder of the area, electricity, network, total load connected, total losses and revenue realization can be obtained by a click of button. Earlier a number of deputations from various sections of society informed the Minister about their problems pertaining to PDD Jora assured that all the basic problems of the area would be solved in a phased manner. He also impressed upon the engineers to remain vigilant to check power pilferage and tampering of meters. Later the Minister also visited Beadlia grid station to check the stock position. Among other Chief Engineers D. S. Pawar Chief Engineer System Operation R. K. Selly, SE Power Sonam Gyalsom, Executive Engineers Vinod Bharti and Jatinder Sharma and many other senior engineers and officer of the department were also present on the occasion. |
