| Min for Jammu beautification | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 29 The Minister for R&B Gulchain Singh Charak today convened a meeting in the premises of the Institute of Engineers at Gandhi Nagar Jammu here today to review the arrangements for beautification of Jammu city on eve of darbar move to Jammu. Later the Minister also visited various areas of Jammu city to inspect the works undertaken by R&B department on the spot. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Nazir Ahmad, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Vinod Goswami, Vice Chairman JDA Ashok Parmar, Joint Commissioner JMC, S. E. R&B S. T. Mustafa, SE PHE Jammu S. P Kanotra, S.E (U.E.E.D), S.E JDA, DIG Traffic Jammu Sunil Sharma, Additional Commissioner Jammu A. Maajid, Executive Engineer Construction Division II K. D Salalia, SSP Traffic Jammu S. A. Watali, Executive Engineer JDA, PHE and Medical College, AEEs and other senior officers of the concerned department. At Airport-Satwari road the Minister took stock of extension of parking space, Cantonment Board and approach road to technical Airport. Regarding widening of Satwari-Bikram Chowk road the Minister asked the engineers to complete the work of cutting of forest trees, shifting of PDD poles and PHE pipes on either side of the road at the earliest so that the traffic congestion can be minimized. At Indira chowk, the Minister asked the ERA authorities to complete the work of laying of water supply pipes from Dogra Chowk to Company Bagh Pumping station and subsequent restoration of roads, restoration of J. P Chowk Rotary and premixing from J.P chowk to Indira chowk so that people are not subjected to unnecessary inconvenience. He also asked for completion of restoration work in Ranbishwar Temple Rotary, deep drain at Tange Wali Gali at Kacchi Chowk, Garbage collection point at Parade, Purani Mandi near Hanuman Ji Temple and outside Girls High School Mohalla Paharian Shalamar road, maintenance of Ranibirshwar Temple Rotary. The Minister also inspected construction of deep drain from City Chowk to Ghass Mandi Chowk and laying of sewerage pipes from Shaheedi Chowk to D.P School road. He directed the concerned officers to replace the rotten pipes from Shaheedi Chowk to D.P School so as to plugg of leakage of water at various locations. Completion of left over work on the road near Gurah Morh, restoration of link road to Chinore, opening of choked nallah and removal of unwanted construction material lying of the road surface. Assessing the beautification drive being carried out in and around Jammu city the Minister called for painting main locations of the city with marking of yellow lines, extension of central verge at Valmaki Chowk, diversion of traffic from Valmaki chowk to Rehari chowk, removal of stones from center verge in front of Police Station Janipur and parking places at various locations in Jammu city. Earlier, a deputation from the Mandal about 6 km away from Purmandal met the Minister and put forth their demands regarding the construction of road in their area. The Minister assured early solution of their demands. |
