| BGSBU seminar on ‘Himalayan Biodiversity’ concludes | | | Early Times Reporter Rajouri | Oct 29 Conserve or perish was the message that has emerged from the proceedings of three day national seminar on ‘Himalayan Biodiversity: concern and issues’ sponsored by the department of Biotechnology and held at the centre of Biodiversity studies of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University BGSBU here. On the occasion lecturers were delivered among others by Dr. P.S Ahuja, director institute of Himalayan Bioresource technology, Dr. Upinder Dhar, Director G.B Pant institute of Himalayan ecology and environment Dr. J.L Karihaloo of Asia pacific consortium for biotechnology, Bangkok and stressed that human onslaught on our life support system has assumed dangerous dimensions. Before it destroys us and the planet that hosts us it must be curbed and contained, the expert said. As per a press release the recommendations that have emanated from the seminars should help the state government to formulate its policy for conservation of Biodiversity and replenishment of impoverished ecosystem. The participants appreciated the initiative taken by BGSB University issues related to Biodiversity to centre stage. On the occasion two documents related to biodiversity were released by Masud A. Choudhary, Vice Chancellor of BGSB University. |
