| Outsourcing jobs to experts for ones defense and counter attack opponents | | | Early Times Special Correspondent Jammu | Oct 31 In the present times of outsourcing business and services to the parties having expertise for the same and where there is cheaper availability as compared to at ones own end within the country or even abroad, India has acquired a proficiency. Various big business enterprises in United State and other European countries have been outsourcing to the Indian IT ventures the jobs of BPO, leading to setting up of call centers in a large number of cities and towns in the country. The image building is a particular sphere which is being outsourced to the experts, whose services are hired by the celebrities, the corporate sector as well as the political parties. In keeping with this modern trend, Pakistan has outsourced its image building in USA and other European countries to a former US diplomat, Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Robin Raphel, retired from the foreign service few years ago and the Vice President of a firm called Cassily and Associates, to counter the widespread negative image of Pakistan as the most dangerous zone in the world, even more dangerous than Iraq. The government of Pakistan has entered into a 1.2 million dollar contract a year with the US firm for putting forward Pakistan's interests at Capital Hill. Pakistan also intends to avail of the services of Raphel to project their case vis a vis that of India with regard to the latter's claim of J&K being part of India, with its accession being final. Robin Raphel has been particularly selected by Pakistan for the job because of her known anti India stand over the Kashmir issue. As US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Raphel had questioned the accession of Kashmir to India. On the home front, it appears that Congress has outsourced its defense against attacks on it by the PDP. The National Conference which is the main opposition party has lately been conducting itself as the bulwark for Congress against PDP's criticism of the functioning of Azad government. Instead of defending itself through its own organizational apparatus, Ghulam Nabi Azad appears to have outsourced this task to the National Conference. On the heel of former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah sharply criticizing PDP, mainly its President Mehbooba Mufti and the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for their allegations of Azad led coalition government proving total failure and non functional, it are the two provincial Presidents of the party Dr. Mehboob Beig and Ajay Sadohtra, who taking cue from their leader, have lambasted the PDP on the same count. In a joint statement issued at Srinagar the two leaders have said that PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti in a bid to put under carpet political issues raised by Dr. Abdullah, has lashed out at the National Conference. They have charged the PDP of political bankruptcy. Having outsourced to the National Conference the job of defending his position and leveling counter charging on the PDP, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is sitting pretty, unmindful of all the hue and cry raised by the main coalition partner of the Congress in his government. He himself only throws broad hints and makes only subtle criticism of the PDP demand for demilitarization or reduction of troops and self rule, even without naming the subject of his attack. He appears to have hired the services of National Conference for calling names and making sharp criticism of the PDP leaders. Instead of fighting an open war with the PDP Azad seems to be indulging in proxy war, keeping the guns on the shoulder of National Conference to fire at PDP leaders. The war of words going on for last quite sometime between the PDP and the Congress, has lately been converted into a war between the PDP and the National Conference, with Congress particularly the Chief Minister Azad laughing in his sleeves. |
