Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that three of the five working groups announced by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh during 2nd Round Table Conference at Srinagar have met and the remaining two groups are also meeting very soon. He said that after completion of first Round of meetings at rinagar these groups would hold the 2nd round at Jammu and the third at New Delhi. Interacting with the media at Bhaderwah today, the Chief Minister Ghulam Azad has said that the groups are expected to put forth their recommendations within six months of the Central Government for consideration and initiating measures thereof. The Chief Minister said that due to militancy, the state has heavily suffered at all fronts and the vital ectors of our economy especially tourism was the worst hit sector. He said that thousands of innocents lost their lives and more than a lakh rendered orphan and widows besides nfrastructure worth hundreds of crores of rupees was razed to the ground adding that the present government soon after taking over, devoted itself for all round development, ebuilding of the damaged infrastructure inculcating a sense of security among the people and restoring peace and normalcy and cementing the democratic fabric of the state. Azad said that he has already issued strict instructions to the security forces for avoiding any collateral loss to property or life while combating militancy but at the same time e emphasised that the human rights violation being resorted to by militants are to be condemned by one and all, so that no innocent is killed or harmed by the militants in the state. The Chief Minister said that government is willing to talk to any person who shun violence and gun culture and hoped that separatists and Hurriyat will understand importance f resolving issues through dialogue which he termed is the only route to solve all complex problems and will participate in future talks. Referring to the alarming problem of unemployment in the state, the Chief Minister said that during last nine months 19,000 posts have been referred to SSRB and PSC besides 4000 contractual appointments have been made by the Deputy Commissioners and hundreds of youth absorbed in various para-military forces, he however maintained that no state guarantees 100 per cent government jobs for educated youth. Azad said that tourism sector would prove the biggest job provider guaranteeing absorption of maximum number of youth provided that the sector is given due attention to promote its various facets like adventure tourism, pilgrim tourism, health tourism and conference tourism. The Chief Minister said that the Bhaderwah area bestowed with natural beauty and grandeur is ideally suited for health tourism and added that the Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah would be shifted to some ideally located place keeping in view, the potential of health tourism of the area. He also said that Bhaderwah is ideal for cultivation of herbal and aromatic plants for which steps would be taken. He said that cultivation of apple and pear in the area would also be promoted on priority basis. With a view to boost adventure tourism in the area for which it is one of the best destinations, the Chief Minister said that a centre of Jawahir Institute of Mountaineering and Skiing is being opened at Bhaderwah. Minister for Transport, Mangat Ram Sharma was also present during the interaction. |
