Jammu | Oct 31
After bowling out the hosts Jammu and Kashmir for a small total of 90 runs, Punjab today managed a 54 runs lead bringing the total to 144 for one at the end of day one play in the two-day senior women’s cricket tournament underway at MA Stadium, here.
When the stumps were drawn, Anupreet Kour was at the crease with 81 runs coming off 110 deliveries studded with nine boundaries while Richa Sehgal had faced only 20 deliveries making seven runs at other end. The outgoing batsman Gurdeep Kour who was trapped leg before wicket by Meenu Slathia played patiently innings of 48 runs including five fours.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir started their innings on positive note with first wicket adding 26 runs. At one point of time, J&K were well placed at 41 for two but fall of three wickets in a gap of just 17 runs brought the hosts under pressure. Except for Abida Nazir, who made 16 runs before she was stump out by Gurdeep off a tricky delivery from Rajwinder Kour, no other batsman could faced the bowling attack of Punjab. In the process J&K lost all their wickets for 90 runs in 57 overs in the post lunch session.
Ravneet Kour was most successful bowler from Punjab with three for seven in five overs while Anupreet and Harpreet Kour shared two wickets each.
