| DDC Samba reviews Disaster Management Programme | | | Early Times Reporter Samba | Oct 31 DDC Samba, Mr. B. S. Jamwal today had the first meeting of Special cell constituted for preparing details regarding disaster management in the district. Addressing the meeting, the DDC asked the committee members to gear up their services in a more cohesive manner and submit the required report to the district Disaster Management committee so that the action plan for disaster management 2007-08 could be formulated at the earliest. He also impressed upon them to ensure massive participation of the people in this regard to make the report more authentic and effective as well. Mr. Jamwal asked all the departments to give details of all the registered NGOs in their respective fields so that their help could be sought for the success of the programme. The meeting was informed that land has been identified for construction of godown under disaster management for storing the essential relief and rescue material. The DDC asked the Social Welfare department to submit the detail of existing infrastructure and requirement of funds for the purchase of blankets to help the disaster affectees. He also asked for detail of the total livestock in the district and their medicinal requirement for meeting any urgency. Mr. Jamwal asked the fire services department to prepare and submit a proposal for special Fire Services vehicle in Samba as is available in Jammu. The Education department was instructed to prepare an inventory of their department and the additional infrastructural requirements to meet any natural or man made disaster. The DDC asked the officers to display contact number of each committee member at Tehsil level and other prominent places for the convenience of the people. |
