Bhalla announces construction of multi-storeyed quarters at Rajeev Nagar

Saying that the government is committed to rehabilitate the people residing in poor conditions and provide basic amenities to them at their doorsteps, the MLA Gandhi Nagar Mr. Raman Bhalla assured to provide suitable accommodation to the needy populace by projecting their plight before higher authorities.
The MLA was speaking at a public meeting convened at Rajeev Nagar here today. On the occasion, Mr Bhalla announced that central government has sanctioned a project for constructing 3-storyed building at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore under NURM for the smooth rehabilitation of Rajeev Nagar slum dwellers.
He said that UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi had visited the area and saw the pitiful condition of these slum dwellers. With the active contribution of Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the central government has sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for the project yesterday. He apprised that the building would provide two-room and one kitchen set for their proper living and the construction under this project would start shortly. He said that provision of road, school, drainage system, drinking water supply and 250 flats for this locality, which is imperative for removing the backwardness from the area. He urged the people to render their complete cooperation for speedy construction of flats and maintaining cleanliness in and around their places.
Mr Bhalla apprised that about 15 years back the devastating flood in river Tawi caused havoc due to which the people ought to be migrated to safer places and by virtue of which locality of Rajeev Nagar formed. He managed to construct 250 sets comprising one room and a kitchen during the past four years. Since inhabitants expressed the desire of more accommodation proposed construction has been designed and approved for two rooms and a kitchen.
It is worthwhile to mention that the entire areas is a slum area and it is the basic endeavour of the government to work for their cause to ameliorate the genuine grievances and demands by transforming their socio-economic profile by providing hygienic surroundings, safe drinking water, quality power and a locality with proper drainage and approach roads. The people of the vicinity overwhelmed their support and faith in the government for simultaneously providing such facilities to lead their rest of the life in a moderate way.
On the occasion, everybody was in the festive mood rejoicing and dancing on drum beats and having all the praise for their local MLA Mr Bhalla.
On the occasion, Mr Bhalla also paid tributes to the 30 persons of the area who sacrificed their lives during the terrorist attack in the area saying that today being the anti-terrorists day, one should remember their sacrifice.
