| Raju Chopra’s killer lived in Gole Market jhuggis | | | Early Times Reporter

Those who had plotted to kill city's cement tycoon, Raju Chopra, including his wife, daughter, servant and driver, had selected Sangram Singh, leader of Pardhi tribes, because he had detailed idea and information about the topography of Trikuta Nagar and Gandhi Nagar.
According to the police Sangram Singh had lived in a Jhuggi in the goal market of Gandhi Nagar for several years till these Jhuggis were demolished by the Jammu
Development authority. As a labourer he had supervised construction work in Trikuta Nagar and Gandhi Nagar and hence knows most of the families closely.
Police said that during the interrogation of Nanzu, a resident of Guna in Madhya Pradesh, who has been arrested, he had confessed that whenever the gang led by Sangram Singh was hired for committing a crime its members used to go to the place well dressed
carrying portfolios or small bags posing as business executives.
Nanzu had also told police that before the crime was to be executed they would carry out surveillance of the area by visiting the places in thge garb of toy sellers.He had stated that before Raju Chopra and four others were killed Sangram Singh and three of his
associates had surveyed the house and its immediateadjoining areas for several days.
Nanzu had told the police that Sangram Singh and his five associates had visited the
shrine of Mata Vaishnov Devi. On their return they were received at the bus stand where they had dinner before marching to the house of Raju Chopra.While taking dinner the
alleged killers finalised the strategy they had to adopt while eliminating Raju Chopra
The police investigation has so far revealed that the killers had gone the Chopra's house only to eliminate Raju Chopra but when his wife and daughter tried to create some hurdles in the execution of the crime they were killed. The driver and the servant,who
too had come down to stop the killers from eliminating Raju were also eliminated with small but heavy iron rods. According to the police the investigation will continue till five other killers,including Sangram
Singh who were absconding, were arrested |
