| Stainless steel coins of rupees 5 denomination | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 1 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless Steel Coins of Rs. 5 denomination with the theme "Connectivity and Information Technology". The newly introduced coin of Rs. 5 shall conform the following dimensions, designs and compositions: shape and outside diameter of the coin would be circular, 23 millimeters with security edges (Mono Metallic) made up of Ferritic Stainless Steel containing 83% Iron and 17% Chromium. The face of the coin is divided into three portions with two horizontal lines. The center portion of the coin shall bear the "Lion Capitol" of Ashoka Pillar with the legend On the reverse face of the coin the lower periphery contain two visual metaphors which depict the smooth fluid mass representing the ceaseless flow of date/information in the ether. In the center Denominational Value The edge of the coin is security edged on periphery. The center of the edge contains a shallow groove with a design inside the two sections separated by blank spaces. This design consists of chain of beads in relief and each bead followed by one inclined line in relief. There shall be total 30 lines and 30 beads. The coin is a legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act 1906. The existing Two Rupees Coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender. "SATYA MAW VIJATYA"inscribed below. The top portion contains the word "BHARAT"in Hindi and "India" in English and the bottom portion contains the year in International Numerals."5"in International Numerals and in upper periphery the word "RUPEE" in Hindi and the word "RUPEES"in English. |
