| Hurriyat constituent stages sit-in | | | Early Times Reporter

Islamic Political Party (IPP), a constituent of the moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference (HC) headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, today staged a peaceful sit-in here to protest alleged violation of human rights by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
Over a dozen activists of the IPP led by Chairman and head of human rights cell of the Hurriyat Conference Mohammad Yousuf Naqash staged the sit-in with placards at Partap Park in the heart of the city, official sources said.
Chairman of Amanullah faction of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Javid Ahmad Mir, President of Republican Movement Abdul Manan Bukhari and President of the Muslim League Hakeem Abdul Rashid also joined the protestors who later dispersed peacefully, they said.
They were holding playcards demanding end to custodial killings, tracing 10,000 persons declared 'disappeared' after arrest by Indian forces and complete withdrawal of troops from the states. |
