| MAM (Evening) wins toss and the match | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Nov 1 After the match ended in a tie against KC Law College, the Government MAM College emerged the winner after the game was decided by spin of coin in the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at University of Jammu, here today. As per the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) rules, if a game ended in tie, the same can be decided through toss. Earlier, after winning the toss and opted to bat first, MAM College set a target of 206 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 30 overs. In reply, KC Law College leveled the score on the last ball of the game for the loss of five wickets thereby forcing the organizers to decide the winner by spin of coin. Yasir Ahmed was tops scorer from MAM College with 74 runs while Vikas Bawa contributed 42 and Yasir Mehmood added 25 runs. Ankit Sharma and Zahoor took three and two wickets respectively from KC Law College. Batting second, KC Law College exhausted their quota of 30 overs for 205 runs with five wickets in hand. Ankit Sharma played brilliant cricket but could not guide his side to victory. He made unbeaten 83 runs off 72 ball including nine boundaries. Najeeb contributed 50 runs. Rohit took three wickets for MAM College. Ankit Sharma was adjudged man of the match for his all round performance including a knock of 83. Table tennis coach of the University of Jammu, Romesh Magotra presented man of the match trophy to Ankit. Next match: PG Arts to take on Government Medical College tomorrow. |
