AZAD CONSULTED MANMOHAN ON WORKING GROUP HEADS

Jammu,July 2 :-In consultation with Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh,Chief Minister Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad,has preferred scholars,senior bureaucrats,economists and jurists from outside the state to head the five working groups that were to be constituted for resolving political,administrative and economic problems of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prior to his discussion with Dr Manmohan Singh Mr Azad had interacted with senior political leaders ,including Mufti Mohd.Sayeed,Mr Omar Abdullah,Mr M.Y.Tarigami and Prof. Bhim Singh for evolving a consensus on the issue of the constitution of the working groups. The working groups were being constituted as per the instructions of the Prime Minister who has shown keenness in finding a solution to various problems confronting the state.
Mr Mohd.Hamid Ansari a retired IFS officer and chirman Commission for minorities,Mr M.K.rasgotra,a former Foreign secretary,Dr C.Rangarajan,former Governor RBI,Justice A.M.Ahmidi,,a former Chief Justice of India and Mr N.C.Saxena of the Planning commission have agreed to head the five groups.
Official sources said that the Chief Minister wanted men of repute and experts to head each group so that the functioning of these groups remained smooth and result oriented.
Official sources said that the Chief Minister would consult the Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh,and the UPA chairperson,Ms Sonia Gandhi,before announcing the names of the members of each group.The sources said that each group will have members belonging to political parties,trade and commerce,bureaucracy and educationists.
According to these sources,Dr Manmohan Singh has suggested to Mr Azad to expedite the constitution of the working groups so that their recommendations on the settlement of various problems was received by the Government within a short time.
