| Retired migrant employees resent eviction drive | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov1 Terming the drive to remove the retired migrant employees from government accommodation as illegal, All J&K Retired Migrant Employees Welfare Association expressed anguish over the estate department and said it was being done in violation of the Supreme Court order. At a meeting of the association held here today, the retired employees threatened to file a contempt petition with the SC if the estate department does not stop the eviction drive. The participants at the meeting chaired by association president J L Kaul sought that undue harassment by the department should stop immediately. Speaking on the occasion, Kaul said locks of the house of one of the retired employee M L Dhar were broken up by the department when there was no one from the family inside the quarter. Huge loss was caused to his belongings in the house, Kaul added. Kaul further expressed anguish over the act of the department saying that illegal act was carried by the department despite assurance given to them by the Chief Minister in the House that no retired migrant employee would be evicted till they move back to valley after being assured of the normalcy prevailing. Among other who participated in the meeting were M L Bhan Vice President, General Secretary B L Bhat and its treasurer B K Razdan and S A H Rafiquee. |
