11/2/2007 7:29:51 PM
Kochi | Nov 2
Defence Minister A.K. Antony said here Friday that the government has decided to increase the rent paid for farmlands occupied by armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir and the rates decided by the state government would be approved.
He added: "The government has also taken the decision to vacate schools, hospitals and other public buildings presently occupied by the army and paramilitary forces in Jammu and Kashmir by Nov 30."
The defence minister was here to attend a function of the Coast Guard.
Responding to a query on the border issue with China, he told reporters that since there is no proper demarcation of the border, each side has its own perception and discussions are in progress to find an amicable solution.
