| BJP leaders decry Khajuria’s uncharitable remarks against Nirmal Singh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 2 A section of the BJP leaders is said to have felt dismayed over the uncharitable remarks of the Party Chief, Ashok Khajuria, on the participation of Dr Nirmal Singh in the recent PUGWASH conference in Italy. Sources in the BJP said that several leaders had not relished Khajuria’s remarks in which he had stated that Dr Nirmal Singh had participated in the conference in his personal capacity and he had no right to hold a press conference for explaining the outcome of the PUGWASH conference as a BJP leader. One senior BJP leader, who wished to remain unidentified, said today that even if Dr Nirmal Singh visited Italy in his personal capacity he had done a good job by unfolding the BJP stand on various issues, especially about the Kashmir problem. He said several senior party leaders and other intellectuals in the country had appreciated Dr Singh for his contribution in the conference. He said the organizers of the conference were fully aware of the credentials of Dr Singh as far as his being committed to the BJP.The organizers were not ignorant about Dr Singh have headed the state unit of the BJP for more than three years and it was not for the first time that he had been invited to the PUGWASH conference. Another leader said that on his return to Jammu Dr Singh had supported the stand taken by the Party President, Rajnath Singh, as far as joint management demand on Kashmir was concerned. He said instead of according a reception on behalf of the party Dr Singh has been cold shouldered by the party chief which the BJP leaders describe as unfortunate. |
