| APHC not force its constituents to merge in the Separatist conglomerate | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Nov 2 The APHC leadership has denied reports indicating that pressure was being mounted on the constituents of the conglomerate for winding up their units in order to promote their merger with the Hurriyat Conference. The party leadership has said that the doors of the APHC were open for any political or religious group. Such groups could join the conglomerate if they accept the party constitution without having to go in for complete merger with it. According to a senior APHC leader, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat,”ours is an organization which believes in democracy. We will not force any constituent to wind up its shop and merge with the Hurriyat Conference. The same yardstick will apply to the new entrants.” He said that the APHC has earned the credentials of being a genuine representative body of the aspirations of people of Kashmir.” We support on the ongoing dialogue between Delhi and Islamabad but at a later stage neither India nor Pakistan can ignore us. We have to be involved in talks,” he said adding that “once our suggestion for trilateral talks was accepted it could facilitate settlement of the Kashmir issue.” Prof. Bhat made it clear that neither elections nor wars can resolve the Kashmir issue. It has to be settled amicably through sustained dialogue |
