BJP terms two-years of Azad disappointing

JAMMU | Nov 2
The state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has today said that the two-year-long rule of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has been disappointing by any yard-stick.
A communiqué released by the party here today, stated that the plight of the people of Jammu province, including refugees from West Pakistan, remains as pitiable as it was before. Rather, the plight of women, Scheduled Castes and Sikh community has turned more pathetic during his rule in the sense that it is for the first time in decades that these communities have been deliberately excluded from the Council of Ministers.
It added, “Unemployment in Jammu province has increased manifold, with the more frustrated among the educated youth, including engineers attempting suicides and trying to cross the international border to undergo arms training and obtain what they deserve in the polity. Developmental activities in the province have come to a standstill. The only parts of Jammu city which will be used by the VVIPs are of course being given a facelift, repaired and renovated as if the common people of Jammu province are destined to live in sub human conditions.”
The worst part, according to BJP, is the failures of the Chief Minister to provide an efficient, corruption free, expeditious and impartial administration to the people, with most of them continue to suffer at the hands of the corrupt elements dominating almost all the departments and institutions. It will be no exaggeration if the BJP says that Jammu and Kashmir under the Congress dispensation has become number one as for as the evil of corruption and pilferage of the public exchequer is concerned. The Congress led government has not only failed to meet the day-to-day and civic needs of the people, but has also enacted Acts, as for example the Roshni Act, to enable the mafia to grab the state land, with the marginal farmers and other poor people occupying small tracts of government land being put to disadvantage.
But more than that, the BJP believes, the Congress-led government has vitiated the state’s political atmosphere by giving communal orientation to almost everything in Kashmir. This belief of the BJP stems from the failure of the nation making Private Members Bills and adoption of Bills based on communal considerations. Similarly, the BJP believes that the Congress-led government has, instead of paying wages to the suffering employees on time and taking steps to eradicate unemployment, only benefited the ministers and legislators by enhancing their salaries and perks at least four times. The BJP would like to point out that the ministers and legislators in Jammu and Kashmir are the highest paid political persons in the entire country.
The BJP would not cross the line if it accuses the Chief Minister himself of spoiling Indian pitch in Jammu and Kashmir by propagating such dangerous ideas as Indo-Pak joint management, the communiqué added.
The BJP has no doubt whatsoever that the Chief Minister is heading a government and a legislature party consisting of corrupt, immoral and undesirable elements.
On its part, the BJP as a responsible opposition party has resolved to educate the public opinion about the misrule of the Congress dispensation. At the same-time, it expects the people themselves to come forward to teach the Congress and its collaborators a befitting lesson.
