Ma-Gagrate played captain’s knock of unbeaten 97 runs coming off 93 balls including ten boundaries. Her partner at the other end, Gurdeep too played brilliant cricket contributing 72 runs to the score. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat, Punjab lost their first three wickets for 88 runs but a partnership of 132 runs for the forth wicket helped the team built up a challenging total of 265 for five in the stipulated 50 overs. From J&K, skipper Roopali Slathia bowled well but team’s failure in breaking the partnership provided Punjab enough of space to set a big target. Later, chasing a target of over five runs per over, J&K made a good start with first wicket partnership between Kouansar Ali Mir and Payal Choudhary yielding 50 runs. However, except for Payal no other batsman could dare the Punjab bowling attack and wickets start like nine pins. The whole side bowled out for a meager total of 76 runs in 39.5 overs, including three duck outs. While Payal was top scorer with 29 runs Musarat Azad contributed 11 runs. No other batsman could touch the double figure mark. Credit for the early dismissal of J&K innings went to Ramneet Kour who claimed five wickets for just two runs in 4.5 overs she bowled. |
