| Big win for PG Arts in inter-college cricket | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Nov 2 In the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament at University of Jammu, the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts registered a big win of 117 runs over Government Medical College (GMC) to advance in the next round today. Batting first after winning the toss, PG Arts lost all their wickets for 193 runs in 36 overs of the 40 over match, which, in reply, GMC could not chase and bowled out for 76 runs in 22.1 over. Nasir Rather was top scorer from PG Arts with 57 runs including five boundaries and a six while Paramjit contributed 41. Ashwani added fast 29 runs facing mere 12 deliveries with the help of a three boundaries and a six. From GMC, Sandeep Sen took four wickets, followed by Rakesh Yadav three and Shishant Menia two. Later, chasing a target of near five runs per over, GMC bowled out for a small total of 76 runs in 22.1 overs. Rajpal Singh (13) and Taranjeet (14) were the two batsmen who scored in double figure. Gourav Raina was most successful bowler from PG Arts with three for 13 in five overs. Rahul Mahajan and Shashi Chib shared two wickets each. Nasir Rather was declared man of the match for his fifty. He was given away the trophy by special invitee, Dr Sonam Angchuk, Assistant Director Physical Education, University of Jammu. |
