Revision of electoral rolls under process
DC asks people to approach BLO for correction before Nov 30

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Hirdesh Kumar Singh who is also District Election Officer Jammu today convened a meeting with representatives of all political parties to discuss and effectively implement the Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls (Voter lists) in their respective constituencies under process in Jammu for Parliamentary and Assembly Elections.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mr. Rajinder Singh, Tehsildar Mr. Narayan Singh and other senior officers of revenue were also present.
According to the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Jammu, the person who have attained the age of 18 years on or before first of January, 2008 are eligible to apply for inclusion of their names in the Electoral Rolls. Any person whose name or other particulars have been incorrectly recorded in the existing electoral rolls can also apply for correction of the same. The application forms for additions/ deletions/ corrections on form No.6, 7, 8 and 8-A are available with Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, all Tehsildars, Block Development Officer, Postmaster and Sub-Post Masters of the district for deletion of names of persons who are dead or who have shifted from the last place of residence.
For the purpose scheduled has been framed which include draft publication of rolls on 01-11-2007 period for filling claims and objections up to 30-11-2007 disposal of claims and objections by 15.12.2007, preparation and printing of supplementary of addition/deletion and correction by 15.1.2008 while final publication of electoral rolls shall be published on 21.1.2008.
District Election Officer appealed the general masses to approach the concerned designated Booth Level Officer (BLO) for any additions/ deletions/ corrections and transposition of names in the electoral rolls.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu informed that sufficient quantity of Forms No.6, 7, 8 and 8-A has already been supplied to all the concerned Booth Level Officers. All the persons who interested/eligible who attained the age of 18 years can file their entries in the relevant electoral rolls besides they can file their claims and objection in the prescribed forms up to November 30, 2007 with the respective areas Booth Level Officers.
No claim/objection would be entertained after the expiry of the last date filling objection.
All political parties and general masses are appealed to associate with the exercise in large number so that complete and error free electoral roll become available for the parliamentary/Assembly elections.
