MMHS finalizes MoU with INTACH

A meeting of senior officers and members of Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society was held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for R&B Gulchain Singh Charak, who is also the chairman executive committee of the Mubarak Mandi complex society to finalize the modalities of documentation and preparation of detail project report (DRPs) of Royal Dogra Palace complex of Jammu with adviser INTACH New Delhi alongwith other officers of the state government as well as INTACH.
The terms of documentation and preservation/conservation/reused plan of Mubarak Mandi complex and others where discussed in length. It was emphasized that the documentation would include all the buildings, open spaces and structure forming parts of the heritage complex. It was further agreed that the scope of work shall include architectural/structural/documentation and preparation of all relevant drawings, photo documentation, reused plan, landscaping proposal materials to be used for conservation/restoration of projects. The terms of the MOU have been finalized by the representatives of both the organizing and for speedy implementation of the work.
Principal Secretary PHE & Irrigation Mr A K Angorana, Director Tourism/Executive Director MMJHS Mr Ajay Khajuria, Development Committee TPO Jammu Mr Vinod Malhotra, Chief Engineer PWD Jammu Mr Nazir Ahmed, Joint Executive Director Mubarak Mandi JHS (General Manager J&K TDC) Mr S M Sahni participated in the meeting.
Earlier, Mr Charak briefed the members that the Chief Minister of J&K State Ghulam Nabi Azad is keen to carry out the conservation and restoration of the Mubarak Mandi Complex project with the help of expert agencies and organizations of the country such as ASI, GSI, INTACH, CBRI and other reputed national level consultants.
The Minister appreciated the ground work initiated by various agencies for restoration of the MMC on professional lines and assured that state government as well as MMHS will render all possible help/assistance to the organizations coming forward to contribute in the restoration work.
Subsequently reputed conservation architect and Director of SPA, New Delhi also had a meeting with the committee in which capacity building measures and other technical aspects of the project were deliberated upon.
