In this connection, the the Mata Vaishnov Devi Shrine Board has plans of digging two more caves or the facility of pilgrims and before executing the plan the Board has decided to refer the matter to a team of experts.
According to Board sources, the Shrine Board authorities will discuss the matter with the team of experts in New Delhi tomorrow. These authorities had come to the conclusion that if one more entry point and exit point were opened it could allow pilgrims to spend more time inside the cave.So far during the peak season each pilgrim gets not more than three seconds. In addition to this 50 to 60 pilgrims can sitin the Atak during the morning and evening Aarti. The Board has decided to construct a three-floor building close to the Atak and each floor will have a capacity for 500 yetris keen to participate in the Aarti.
Since the number of pilgrims continues to swell and the Board expects the pilgrim traffic to cross 74 lakhs during the current year it is keen to expand the accommodation for the pilgrims within the holy cave and in the Atka.
Shrine Board officials said that the matter of constructing two more caves had to be referred to a team of experts so that while taking the work in hand no danger could come to the original cave. Governor, S.K.Sinha, who heads the Shrine Board has asked the
concerned agency to complete the construction of the three-storyed building at the Atka by next Navratras which fall somewhere in March. He wants the Shrine Board to complete various projects at facilitating the pilgrims before he would hung his boots in next June when he completes his tenure in the Raj Bhawan.
The Governor is also keen in seeing various development projects completed in Mata Vaishnov Devi University which is fast emerging as a centre of excellence. He has told the Board authorities to take in hand measures that would ensure hassle free visit to the shrine by over one crore pilgrims per year who are expected to offer prayers at the shrine after 2010.
