Gujjars get their website

The first ever website on Gujjar tribe of Jammu and Kashmir was today launched by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation in Srinagar.
According to the foundation, the main objective of the site is to keep the community informed with changing times in the age of information revolution. The web-site can be accessed at www.jktribals.co.cc with an alternate address www.jktribals.page.tl and is going to be made available at the web-server of co. and tl simultaneiously.
The site has been specially designed by Sajjad Hamdani, eminent sculpture of Kashmir for TRCF.
Speaking after the commissioning of the website, Dr.Javaid Rahi, National Secretary of Tribal Foundation hoped that those browsing the website would get detailed information about the Gujjar Tribe , their History,Culture, Social Structure,Economy,Language-Gojri , elites class and its different facets.Importance had been given to tribal Gujjar Politics, and Heritage of Gujjars in the website. Besides, there was a seperate chapter on "Gujjar News" and "What is new" on the site beside a special fucose on Tribal Gujjar Women. .Dr. Rahi added
The site has been lauanched to showcase the diffrent aspects of Gujjars- the Scheduled Tribe commmunity which form third largest ethnic group of Jammu and Kashmir after Kashmiri and Dogras comprise nearly 20 % population in the State. They have distinction over other identities and have their own language GOJRI which is an offshoot of Indo-Aryan language.the website is to highlight the Costumes ,Traditions , food habits, living habits and Arts, and Crafts which varies from area to area.
